Danielle Launzel is the youngest of 5 sisters which, as a young girl growing up in New York, translates to “hand-me-downs.” It took some re-working but Danielle was able, even at a young age to make them her own - not to mention fabulous.
Painting jeans and tees started as a hobby. Only after a well-timed design class in college did she realize her passion’s full potential. After graduating with a degree in Theatre with a concentration in Costume Design, Danielle headed west to Los Angeles where she found a job at a costume house owned and run by Bob Mackie, the renowned fashion and costume designer. It was there that she first witnessed the glamorous (and sometimes not so glamorous) side of costume design.
She was hooked.
Danielle’s vast experience throughout her career has given audiences something to look forward to episode after episode. From the cult classic Wilfred for FX, with it’s iconic “bad” dog suit, to the often campy styles of ABC’s Suburgatory, the versatility in her work is obvious.
Recently, audiences have been delighted in the elevated fashions she brought to her work on The Bold Type, the Universal TV series for Freeform inspired by the life and career of Joanna Coles, the former editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan magazine. After 16 episodes, the production was shut down due to the Covid-19 pandemic, leaving Danielle months to hone her gardening skills. Back to work as soon as Hollywood reopened, Danielle designed the third season of Netflix’s addictive stalker drama, You, once again, showcasing her range - even in a mask.
